The Secret to Exercising as a Busy Mom

Updated: Nov 11, 2024

The secret is…there is no secret! Hate to say it but it comes down to you, your preferences

and needs. I realize me saying that doesn't help a busy mom who just can't seem to get a minute of alone time. I'm here to provide some general tips to get started to carving out a long term fitness and wellness regime that you love and feel great about.

Ask yourself the following questions and write down your answers:

1. When do you feel your best?

2. What type of movement does your body and mind enjoy? Yoga? Weights? Tennis? Cardio? A bit of everything?

3. What type of movement does your body and mind not enjoy? What might aggravate prior injuries or just not feel good?

4. When do you find you have 10-30 minutes of time to scroll social media?

5. What is your why when it comes to fitness and exercise? Why do you do it or why do

you want to do it? Is it for longevity? Vanity (which is ok!)? Social time? Me time? Something else?

Your answers to these questions are going to give you a great starting point to getting on the

right track to reaching your fitness goals for the long term. And know these answers will change

over the course of your life. In order to truly reap the benefits of exercise it's all about your motivation, being consistent and realistic, and finding movement you actually enjoy, not just think you should do because other people who look amazing do it. Trust me there are ways to look amazing while doing something you love (because if you do something you love you will want to keep doing it).

Everyone knows exercise provides an unbelievable amount of health benefits, but let's recap:

1. Increases physical health - in every way!

2. Improves brain function - yes exercising can actually make you smarter and focus better

3. Slows aging and issues that can come up especially when you get to the perimenopausal and menopausal stage of life (oh what fun!)

4. Improves mental health - the old adage from Elle Woods in Legally Blonde "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't". For all of the life partners out there‚ let's make sure to find time to exercise for their sake.

5. Can aid in weight loss if done in combination with the right eating plan for your goals. If you are a busy mom struggling to find the time or the motivation to exercise, I'm here to help.

I've worked with countless women to find the joy in movement and make the time for it
